How you are graded (No name on a paper will count 5 points off an assignment).

1.       Homework: Homework is based on the number of assignments given. If 10 assignments are given then each will count 10 points.

2.      Classwork:  Random classwork may be collected and will count half.

3.      Quizzes:  A quiz may be given once or twice a week, depending on the amount of material covered.  They count once and will be announced.

4.      Chapter test: Chapter test come from students' notes, handouts, and science book.  Chapter test count twice.

5.      Nine weeks test: Study guides are given for 9 weeks test.  Five points are given in the test if the study guide is brought to class completed and on the assigned date.  The nine weeks test count 20%.

6.      Semester Exam: Semester exams cover two nine weeks.  Study guides are given out a week before the exam.  This exam counts 20% of the semester grade.

7.      Projects/Reports: Project assignments and criteria are handed out 4 to 6 weeks before they are due.  They are written on the board under reminders and on a calendar in the hallway next to my door.  Projects are usually worth more than 100 points and count twice.  I do not accept late assignments.

8.    Extra Credit:    When I grade students’ papers I show them the grade that same day.  Students will write their grades on a grade sheet that I supply.  If the grade is signed by the next test date, the student will receive 3 points on the next test or quiz.  This is a great way to earn extra points. (Usually 30-45 points per nine weeks) Please check you child’s grade sheet for grades.  If you do not see a grade at least once a week you need to question your child.
