A guidance counselor takes on many roles.

In Individual Counseling a student gets to spend time one on one with the guidance counselor a discuss a problem that they are facing.  There are several ways that students can visit the guidance office.  First they may fill out a guidance request form, second they can be referred by their teacher, third, they can be referred by their parent, or fourth, they can be referred by the principal.

Individual Counseling

In classroom guidance, students come to the guidance classroom and we work on lessons from one of three areas.  These areas are; Learning to Live, Learning to Learn, and Learning to Work.  These three areas are then divided into specific lessons to re-enforce the skills necessary to Live, Learn and Work.

What is the Assistance Team?  Well the assistance team is a team that meets to discuss ways to help students who are struggling academically, behaviorally or emotionally. From time to time I will be involved as a team member to help with these plans for students.

Throughout the year we will be having several school wide programs going on.  As the guidance counselor I am in charge of a majority of these programs.  Some of these include: Career Week, Pennies for Patients, Talking about Touching, Core Essentials, Be Cool, and many others.
