ACCOUNTING I – JUNE 2-6, 2008      

 

STATE STANDARDS:

 

  1. Journalize transactions in the sales journal, cash receipts journal, purchases journal, cash payments journal, and general journal.
  2. Post transactions to the general ledger and the accounts receivable and accounts payable subsidiary ledgers.
  3. Prove cash.
  4. Prepare a schedule of accounts receivable and a schedule of accounts payable.
  5. Prepare a trial balance.

Writing Assignment:  What is the purpose for preparing a Trial Balance?

 

Students will complete Mini Practice Set 4 – pp. 544-547. (Manually)  (Numeracy Assignment)

 

Assessment:  Grade Mini Practice Set 4 and writing assignment

Tuesday

 

Review for final exam for tomorrow – Mini Practice Set 4—Chapters 8-17.

 

**If time permits, students will complete Mini Practice Set 4 on the computer using the Peachtree software.

STATE STANDARDS:

 

  1. Use the computer to journalize transactions using special journals, post to the general and subsidiary ledgers, and complete end-of-fiscal-period work.

                     Computer, Internet, Peachtree Accounting Software, Calculator, Import Expressions, Inc.—Business Simulation

Monday

 

Students will complete the Business Simulation—Import Expressions, Inc.—using the Peachtree software on the computer.  (Numeracy Assignment)

 

Assessment:  Grade Business Simulation

 

Tuesday

 

Writing Assignment:  List the special journals used in the business simulation, the types of transactions recorded in each journal, and give the source document for each journal.

 

Review for final exam – Business Simulation—Chapters 7-14.

 

Assessment:  Oral questions and check writing assignment

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS I

       JUNE 2-6, 2008

 

STATE STANDARDS:

 

  1. Create a presentation in outline view, add a slide and create a closing slide on the Outline tab, create text slides with multi-level bulleted lists on the Outline tab, save and review a presentation, change the slide layout, insert clip art, move clip art, and change clip art size.
  2. Add a header and footer to outline pages, add slide transition effects, animate text and clip art, print a presentation outline, change printing options, and run an animated slide show.
  3. Use the digital camera to make pictures for a presentation.
  4. Use the scanner to scan pictures for a presentation.
  5. Create certificates, thank you cards, calendars, invitations, greeting cards, menus, signs, flyers, newsletters, and brochures using Microsoft Publisher.

Writing Assignment:  Which software program that we used this semester was your favorite program, and explain why it was your favorite program.

 

Students will create PowerPoint presentations from the topics they were given previously that will include clip art and animation and transition effects.  (Numeracy Assignment:  Students will follow the 7 x 7 rule when creating slides for their presentations, and each presentation must have at least four slides.)

 

Assessment:  Teacher observation, grade presentations, and writing assignment

Review for final exam – Access and PowerPoint.

 

**If time permits—Microsoft Publisher—Students will create award certificates, gift certificates, thank you cards, calendars, invitations, greeting cards, menus, signs, flyers, newsletters, and brochures.
