Dear Team
6 Parents, August 6, 2010 Welcome back to Sneed and to our
Team. My name is Robin Dantzler and I
will be your child’s science teacher this year. I have put together some information you
may find useful now and throughout the year.
Also, I wanted to provide you with my email address so you can contact
me with any concerns you have. My
email address is: rdantzler@fsd1.org. WEB PAGE I do maintain a webpage that can be accessed
at the following URL: https://www.fsd1.net/schools/sneed/rdantzler/Pages/default.aspx. Here you will be able to view the topics
we will cover that week, projected homework assignments and important reminders. You may want to bookmark this page so you
can easily check for updates. TEXTBOOK The following is a link to our textbook
on-line: http://glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/science/ose/. Your username is scsg807 and your password is c4gepe9h. Students will be provided a copy of the
textbook to keep at home the first week of school. They do not need to bring it with them to
class because I have a class set that we will use. INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS This year my Science students will be
required to maintain an interactive notebook.
I will provide students with the requirements for their notebooks in
class. An interactive notebook is set
up where students have notes that I provide them on the right side pages. The left hand pages are for students to use
in creating materials that will help them process or reflect on what they
have learned. In the front of the
notebook they will maintain a table of contents. For the first nine weeks I will keep a copy
of the table of contents in class for the students to use if they miss any
information. After the first nine
weeks they will be responsible for maintaining their own table of
contents. It is my hope that this will
improve my students organizational skills and that they will realize what an
easy to use resource their notebook can be.
They will keep all graded assignments in their notebook and they will
be writing test and lab reflections that you may want to look over if they
are struggling in class. POWERSCHOOL PowerSchool is
a valuable resource available to students and parents so they can view grades. The following PowerPoint will introduce PowerSchool to you: http://www.fsd1.org/powerschool/parent/parentaccessinfo.pdf . You can access PowerSchool
at: https://pschool.fsd1.org/admin/pw.html. Please make sure you have acquired your
username and password from the front office and share it with your
child. I update my grades once a week
usually at the end of the week. If
you have any questions or concerns please email me or contact Doris Brown to
schedule a conference. SUPPLIES My students will need the following
supplies to use in their Science classrooms: ·
Four single subject, 70 page spiral
notebooks in red, blue, yellow and green.
We will use one for each nine weeks.
If students will bring all of them in during the first week of school,
I will store their extra notebooks for them.
·
Students are asked to bring in two glue
sticks that we will use throughout the year in maintaining our notebooks. I will also collect these during the first
week of school. ·
Students are asked to donate one box of
Kleenex to one of their core teachers the first week of school. ·
Other supplies students will need for
their own personal use: pens (blue or black ink), mechanical pencils, colored
pencils or markers, loose leaf paper and a simple four function calculator.
I hope you enjoy the last couple of weeks of your summer before school
begins. I am looking forward to
working with you and your child in the upcoming year at Sneed. Mrs.
Dantzler |
