ME

I am in my fourth year as Asst. Principal at Delmae.  I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University, a M. Ed. in Middle Grades from West Georgia College, and an M.Ed in Administration and Supervision from the University of South Carolina.  My responsibilities at Delmae include classroom instruction, safety, buses, discipline, supervision of student teachers and interns, and records.

US

Delmae is a K-4 school located in a rapidly growing area of Florence.  In addition to standards-based instruction in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, we offer Art, Music, and Physical Education.  Students also receive instruction in our Science Lab and Computer Lab and visit our Media Center regularly as they participate in our Reading Renaissance Program. Instruction in our Literacy Lab is a part of the regular schedule for most of our first graders. Our support personnel include a Reading Recovery teacher (for first grade), a Speech teacher, two Resource teachers, a part-time Occupational Therapist, and ESL services for those who need them.

Delmae is a family-friendly school with lots of regularly scheduled activities for students and their families.  These can be seen on our Picture Parade.

Visitors are always welcome at Delmae!  In fact, we are a recent RED CARPET AWARD winner for great customer service! If you would like to take a tour of our school, it is helpful if you call ahead (664-8448) to let us know you are coming.  Much more information is available on our school and district websites.

TRAFFIC

ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

In our continuing effort to ensure the safety of children arriving at Delmae each morning, the following procedures are in effect for carline drop-off:

The circle drive and front parking area is reserved for bus and daycare vans to drop-off and pick-up students.

ARRIVAL

Any student who wishes to eat breakfast should arrive no later than 7:30.

All students should be dropped off in the carline. Staff members as well as safety patrols are on duty to assist students. The front circle is reserved for drop-off by buses and daycare vans only.

NO LEFT TURN OFF PARKER EXCEPT FOR STAFF MEMBERS

All traffic must enter by turning right off Parker into the carline.

NO DROP-OFF OF CHILDREN IN THE STREET OR PARKING LOT

If you are parking, you must walk your children to the crosswalk and wait for the carline monitor to tell you to cross.

PARKING

Parking is not allowed along the street on either side. You may park inside the parking lot along the grass, but you must still use the carline entrance. You may park in any white space.  Visitor parking is allowed in the front circle only between 8:00 and 1:30.  Yellow spaces are reserved for our staff.

**Parents needing to take supplies or treats to the classroom may park in any white space and use the crosswalk.

DISMISSAL

If you need to sign out your child, please do so before 1:30.  After that time, you must go through the car line.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THESE PROCEDURES ARE IN PLACE TO KEEP ALL CHILDREN SAFE.  THEY HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE FLORENCE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND WILL BE ENFORCED BY THEM.

SAFETY

The safety of our students and staff is a priority at Delmae. Rules are in place for traffic flow and parking which help us protect your child during arrival and dismissal. Security cameras were purchased by our APT and are placed throughout the building as well as near the mobile units.  Safety drills are conducted as follows:

Fire Drill – monthly

Tornado Drill – twice a year

Earthquake Drill – once a year

Bus Evacuation Drill – twice a year

Our school is also staffed with a full-time school nurse who will be happy to assist you with any special needs your child may have.
