CLASS EXPECTATIONS - Spanish I-CP  Mrs. M. Volk

 

OBJECTIVES:  The student will be able to communicate, make connections and comparisons to his language and other disciplines, understand the culture and use the language beyond the school setting in the community by:

 

USING SIMPLE VOCABULARY (read, write, speak, understand)

Simple idiomatic expressions (greeting, farewells, weather, time)

Action verbs (regular, irregular, stem-changing)

Common nouns (numbers, colors, family members, days of the week etc.)

Pronouns (subject, possessive, object)

Adjectives (descriptive, possessive and superlatives)

Articles, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions

USING SIMPLE GRAMMAR

Subject - Verb agreement (present tense)

Noun - Adjective agreement

Sentence patterns (affirmative, negative and interrogative)

RECOGNIZING CULTURAL FACTS

Geography of Spanish speaking countries

Basic customs pertaining to daily life

Hispanics in current events 

 

CLASS RULES:  District Pupil Discipline Code

1. BE ON TIME - in your assigned seat.  (Go to the bathroom between classes)

2. BE PREPARED - Come to class with all your materials:

                                 textbook, pen/pencil, paper, binder, completed assignments.

3. BE CONSIDERATE - Do not interfere with the learning and activities of the class.

                                      Do not bring food or drinks to the classroom.

                                      Do not talk or get out of your seat without permission.

 

GRADING POLICY

Mid Quarter:

Grades will be figured by the sum of points earned divided by the sum of points possible at the cut off date for the reporting period established by the administration. 

(Points earned from:  Vocabulary Tests, Lesson Tests, Class work/ Homework Checks, Folder Checks, Oral participation, Cultural Projects, and Extra Credit Assignments)           

Quarter:

80 % Average of points earned during the quarter.

(Sum of total points earned divided by the total points possible during the entire quarter)

20%   Semester Exam

Final:

50%  1st  Quarter grade 

50%  2nd  Quarter grade 

 

Note:  Please remember that each student determines his grade by his effort and performance.  The teacher does not pass or fail anyone.  I present the content required in varied ways in addition to the textbook, workbook, video and audio tapes to give each student the opportunity to learn and complete the course successfully.
