OBJECTIVES:

Bell work: To find the % of a number (amount of savings)

To calculator a word problem answer

To review capitalization rules

To complete  short answer and comprehension questions

To improve written expression

To improve reading comprehension skills (details)

 

Monday:

Objective: Pre-test to assess for SC HSAP Writing (editing and revision sections)

Procedure:  The student will read The Wrap up on Plastic Wrap & edit paragraphs one & two for The Diagnostic Test in Writing

Assessment: HSAP Diagnostic answer key

 

TUESDAY:

Objective: Pre-test to assess for SC HSAP Reading

Procedure: The student will read The Making of a Marine and excerpt from A Shot Heard “Round and answer questions provided as a diagnostic tool (#43-60)

Assessment: HSAP Diagnostic answer key

 

HW: Worksheet “How well Do You Know Your Parents?”

 

Wednesday:

Objective: To improve written  skills (details)

Procedure: Using WS “How Well Do You Know Your Parents” the students will make a 9 cell storyboard and compose a rough draft outline.

Assessment:  teacher observation

 

Thursday:

 Objectives:

To review sales price ( % off)

To improve written expression

Procedure:

1. Bell work: (1st 10 minutes) HSAP Math page 39 # 42 & 43 and page 40 # 45 & 46

2. The teacher will review journal

3. The students will read from Scholastic Action Magazine.

4. Given the writing prompt the students will write JOURNAL # 3 in his/her journals.

5. The students will complete any remaining resource tasks for the week and any tasks assigned by regular education teachers.

FRIDAY:

Objective:

To review capitulation rules

To improve written expression

Procedure:

1. Bell work:  (1st 10 minutes)  review capitalization (WS)

2. The teacher will review essay criteria worksheet ( introduction, body/support, closing)

2. Using the storyboard from “How Well Do You Know Your Parents” the students will write an essay in his/her classroom folder. (Do not assign the number of paragraphs needed!)

3. The students will prepare for any upcoming tests & or complete any remaining tasks assigned by regular education teachers.

Assessment: teacher observation and writing rubric

 

****STUDENT SUPPLIES NEEDED: FOLDER WITH NOTEBOOK PAPER

 

In addition to the above work, students will complete quizzes, tests, projects, or assignments from the regular classroom teacher.  If a student finishes all work, he/she will be assigned a book or to work for remediation in math, reading, or written expression skills.  Some students will be required to work on HASP skills.
