WELCOME:
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! I hope you all had a nice summer and are ready to return. We are looking forward to another great school year. If you ever have questions / concerns, please email me or call me at school to set up an appointment before school, after school, or during second period. I encourage you to participate in school activities this year. We need your support to make our school the best it can be!

EXPECTATIONS:

I will treat each student with respect, provide an orderly classroom environment, provide the necessary discipline, provide the appropriate motivation, and teach the required content.

I expect my students to treat me with respect, attend class regularly, be cooperative and not disruptive, study and do the work, and learn and master the required content.

RULES:

·        Bring to class: 3-ring binder with paper and dividers, pencils, Agenda, ID, RR book(s)

·        Begin bell work upon entering class.

·        Raise hand and wait to be recognized before speaking out or leaving seat.

·        Be respectful to teachers, classmates, staff, and all property.

·        Follow directions with a spirit of cooperation.

 CONSEQUENCES:

1.    Verbal Warning

2.   Student Conference

3.   Parent Contact / Lunch Detention or Time Out

4.   Office referral

TEXTBOOKS:

Students will be issued a Math textbook ONLY BY REQUEST at the beginning of the year. Mr. Scandrol will issue the books. They are to leave their textbook at home to use as a resource. Book checks are in November and April. I will soon have an online code that you can use at home to access the entire textbook from your computer. There will be a classroom set of textbooks if they are required for a special project or class activity.

GRADES:

A = 93 – 100     B = 85 – 92       C = 77 – 84       D = 70 – 76       F = 0 – 69

Classwork / Daily Grades / Quizzes will count once

Final Homework Grade will count twice

Unit Tests and Special Projects will count twice

1st and 3rd Quarter Exams will count 20% of the quarter average

1st and 2nd Semester Exams will be 20% of the semester average.

STUDENTS are responsible for recording grades in the Agenda and their work folder that stays in the classroom.

PARENTS should check Agendas daily and initial beside all math grades. Conferences can be scheduled to see student’s work folders.

MATH NOTEBOOK:

Students are required to keep a math notebook and bring it to class every day. This may be a section in their large 3-ring binder. The Math Notebook will contain all Bellwork, class work, notes, and homework.

UNITS OF STUDY:

Numbers and Operations, Algebra, Measurement, Geometry, Data Analysis and Probability

Students will receive a copy of the 7th grade math standards/indicators. Instruction will follow those standards, not the textbook. Lesson plans are posted on the school web page weekly. Please keep in mind that plans are subject to change.
