2nd and 4th blocks

1.  Begin The Tragedy of Macbeth introduction material, p. 297-300.  (Comparing the historical Macbeth with the production of the Shakespearean play of Macbeth offers discussion concerning (NUMERACY)

2.  Begin the drama p. 301-309; complete study guide and character matrix as we read.

1st block

1. Continue reading Macbeth with Act I, Scene 6-7, p. 314-318.  Answer selected questions, p. 318.  Recognize blank verse and iambic pentameter (NUMERACY).

2.  Scan one speech in Act I and find variations in meter.  Compare Shakespeare’s use of prose in selected passages; compare the dialogue to the inner thoughts.

3.  Complete an activity with fortunes.  Each student draws a “good fortune,” reads it to the class and then writes what steps he would have to take to ensure these prosperous futures.

3.  Continue reading Macbeth Act II, Scenes 1, 2, and 3 and 4; pages 319-331.

2nd and 4th blocks

1.  Complete the activities from 1st block of Monday.

1st block

1.  Distribute quotes form Macbeth.  The students will read them aloud and place them around the room under the headings of Darkness, Sleeplessness, Blood=Guilt, etc.

2.  They will then write a poetic phrase using their combined quotes. 

3.  Complete Act II; read Macbeth’s Porter and answer selected questions on p. 333.

4. Complete character matrix and study questions.
