Important information about articulation credit

1.    Credit for articulated courses is good up to one

year from the date of high school graduation until

the student enrolls at Florence-Darlington Technical

        College.

2.    Students must enroll (be accepted and registered for

classes) at FDTC in order for the credit to appear on

an official FDTC transcript.  The credit then becomes

a part of the student’s permanent record as if the

course were taken through college enrollment.

3.    No fees are required for the students to receive

articulation credit, nor are fees charged for proficiency

exams required as part of articulation agreements.

4.    Articulation credit means that certain courses are

exempted at FDTC.  Students will earn the respective

credit hours for exempted courses, but will not receive

grades for the course.  Thus, there will be no effect

on the overall grade point average.

5.    Articulation credit is awarded for specific FDTC

courses.  Students may use the credit for required

       courses in degree, diploma, or certificate programs;

for elective courses in degree programs (with

department head’s approval); or as credit that has

been substituted for a required course by the student’s

      department head.

6.    Articulation credit is intended to be used by students

who plan to graduate from FDTC technical programs.

Students who plan to transfer to another institution

should not exempt courses through articulation because

other institutions may NOT honor this type of credit.

7.    Students who earn articulation credit for courses that

comprise an associate degree, diploma, or certificate

program will NOT be awarded a degree, diploma, or

certificate unless the residency requirement is met

(students must take 25% of the total credit hours

through on-campus enrollment). In order to meet the

       residency requirement, the student’s department

head may recommend additional courses to substitute

for one or more required courses.  The residency

requirement would then be met by taking comparable

on-campus course without having to retake courses

for which credit has already been awarded.

8.    It is the student’s responsibility to inform his/her

academic advisor when registering for the first term

at FDTC that articulation credit has been earned.
