I would like
to welcome you to the Compass Odyssey course for the 2009-2010 school year. Compass Odyssey is a web-based program that offers
computerized instruction in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social
Studies. The purpose of this course is to reinforce and enhance the students’
understanding of these subject areas. |

|
Grading Policy Students’ grades are computed by taking
the average of all the quizzes and tests taken inside the Compass Odyssey
program, as well as any worksheets we will be working on as a class. Also,
students will keep a daily journal, which I will check periodically.
Spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. WILL BE COUNTED!! Also, there will be a
9-weeks exam, which will count for 20% of the final grade. NOTE: When working on Math problems in class, students may use
calculators, Venn diagrams, written notes, or anything else that may be
useful to them. If a student
has a question about an exercise they are doing in class, he or she may raise
his or her hand, and I will assist them concerning any questions they may
have. |
|
Classroom Expectations As soon as students enter the classroom,
they write their daily journal entries, then, go directly to the Compass
Odyssey program, and begin working on their daily lessons. Computer
safety and proper use of the computers is something I take seriously in this
course. In my class, the Compass Odyssey website is the only site the
students will be visiting. So, unless I give permission, students are not allowed to visit any other web
sites (music, etc). This keeps students protected from any disciplinary
action. |
