Reading Recovery is an early
intervention program designed to help first grade children who need
additional assistance in learning to read and write. A child
receives intensive individual reading and writing lessons for 30 minutes each
day. The instruction last 12-20 weeks. At the
end of a child's program, the child's performance is observed, tested, and
evaluated to determine whether the child is successfully or unsuccessfully
discontinued from the Reading Recover Program. A child
who meets the criteria and possesses the needed strategies in order to
continue to make progress, independent of the one on one intensive
instruction, is considered successfully discontinued. |
