Welcome to 6th Grade!
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! We are excited about being back in the classroom and are looking forward to an exciting school year at Dewey L. Carter!
We will be switching classes this year. Ms. McDaniel, Mrs. Luckett, and Mrs. Woods will be switching classes. Ms. Hood and Mrs. Wright will be switching classes. You will receive more information from your child’s team of teachers at Parent Orientation on August 21.
We are here to help your child achieve his/her full potential. As a parent, you can do a great deal to help your student succeed. Here are some things you can do to help your child this year:
Students need to be at school each day. School starts at 7:50.
Encourage your child to do his/her homework every night. Studying is considered homework and establishing good study habits will help him/her in the future.
Help your child to be more organized. Students can use color coded notebooks, notebook dividers for different subjects, and/or their agenda to help keep up with assignments.
Check and sign your child’s agenda daily. We will use the agendas to send notes home, or updates on school activities. If you need to send us a note, you may use the agenda as well.
Students should read 30 minutes every night.
Encourage your child to always try their best!
If you have not already done so, please get the items on the supply list for your child. Also, we are always grateful for any other items that you would like to send to the classroom, such as paper towels, dry erase markers, Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and candy/snack food.
If you have any questions, please call or e-mail us. We look forward to a great school year!
Thank you,
