In this class, students will have the opportunity to earn 1 unit of elective credit.*

Three areas of adolescent life will be taught:  character education, teen health issues, and sex education. In character education, students will learn to strengthen their individual character as they face new issues at the high school level.  Teen health issues will help students better understand how the choices they make now will impact their future life and its success.  Sex education curriculum will explain why it is Worth the Wait.

Technology skills, career exploration, financial planning, current events, and study skills will be taught to help students to transition successfully to high school and to prepare for the future. Students will develop technology skills that will assist them in other classes in their remaining years at South Florence.  Career exploration will allow students to learn techniques that will help them to make decisions related to a future career opportunity. Financial Planning (NEFE High School Planning Program) will provide students with a basic financial planning and money management knowledge. During the entire year the class will learn about what is happening around them by having current events as part of their curriculum.

* This class is required for all 1st time 9th graders at South Florence High School.
